Tuba Master Class with Michel Godard at the CONSMUPA

Multifaceted artist, Michel Godard will visit us soon to teach a tuba and serpent course at the CONSMUPA from May 12 to 15, 2017. Organized by the YoTuba Association, the course has the valuable collaboration of the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Eduardo Martínez Torner "of Asturias, if you are interested in attending the Master Class you have to register by clicking on this link. Throughout the course we will have the opportunity to participate in the group sessions -in which Michel will introduce us into improvisation-, and, in the case of the active students, to receive individual classes.


Artista polifacético, MicheL Godard nos visitará en breve para impartir un curso de tuba y serpentón en el CONSMUPA del 12 al 15 de mayo de 2017. Organizado por la Asociación YoTuba, el curso cuenta con la valiosa colaboración del Conservatorio Superior de Música “Eduardo Martínez Torner” de Asturias, si estáis interesados en asistir al mismo solo tenéis que inscribiros pinchando en este enlace. A lo largo del curso tendréis la oportunidad de participar en las sesiones colectivas —en las que Michel nos introducirá en la improvisación—, y, en el caso de los alumnos activos, recibir clases individuales.

Master class with Gabriel Capet at the CONSMUPA

Auspiced by the Erasmus + program, Professor Gabriel Capet will be at CONSMUPA from March 13 to 17, 2017. Throughout the week, the CONSMUPA students will have the opportunity to attend several individual and collective classes. They will receive the advice of an excellent professional trained in the French tradition. It is a pleasure and an honor to receive him at the CONSMUPA Tuba and Euphonium Studio

Gabriel CAPET begun music in the "municipal wind orchestra of Bully-MAZINGARBE" conducted by Raymond BOUDRY. After classical studies (Conservatoire de Lille, OFJ, Académie d'Orchestre de PARIS, CSNMD de Paris), his infatuation for eclecticism led him to interact across different musical universes. His interest for small brass ensembles made him play with ensembles such as: QUINTE JUSTE brass quintet (winner of the Menuhin Foundation in 1986) and the TUBA quartet "Tuba Yaga".
TUBA player of the military orchestra "MUSIQUE DES GARDIENS DE LA PAIX DE PARIS" from 1986 until 1994, he often played with famous french symphonic orchestras: Opéra de Paris, Opéra de Lyon, Orchestre National de Lille, de Bordeaux Aquitaine and big bands: Bekummernis (conductor Luc LE MASNES ) Multicolour Feeling Fanfare Eddy LOUISS and with the big band of the Conservatory of Lille (conductor Denis BADAULT Laurent CUNY ) .
Today, he is member of «l'Ensemble Patchwork»: a swing-wing group who’s aiming to promote the Tuba through different styles of music and formations. On several occasions, Gabriel CAPET plays with brass ensembles such as: brass ensemble of the CNR de Lille, "SUR MESURE"-brass ensemble, the brass ensemble of Orchestre National de Lille and the "EUROBRASS ENSEMBLE" and « Aeolus brass-Band ». He also performs as a soloist with wind-bands such Calonne Ricouart, Villars Bonnot, with brass Bands: Brass-Band from 43° RI, Brass-Band Nord-Pas-de-Calais, OCA Brass-Band, Brass-Band Aeolus.
Willing to share his passion and experience, Gabriel teaches at the "Conservatoire Royal de Liege, CRR de Lille and in the music school of Calonne Ricouart (in twenty five years, he taught at 250 different students 30 became professional musicians or teachers).
He also participated at international summer schools like EPSIVAL or the international academy of Dinant. He organised different events such as "Rencontres inter-régionnales de tuba" , with his friend Thierry THIBAULT or “Discovering the TUBA” with Marc Steckar and P.Legris, “TUBA meets cello” with the Danel quartet, TUBA meets Improvisation” with Didier Havet and J. Deregnaucourt, “TUBA meets French horn” with T.Lentz.
Today, Gabriel CAPET continues this musical way by commissioning creation of contemporary musical pieces from Thierry MEURISSE or Arnaud BOUKHITINE and by participating in the development of Willson 3400S Eb tuba FA-5.

Keep in Touch Tuba Project + Andreas Prittwitz & Ton Risco

In Chacona, Keep in Touch Tuba Project covers a magical repertoire, giving a personal and different lecture of works written by geniuses of another time, small wonders that serve as excuse to elaborate a concert in which improvisation dominates the stage.
Chacona benefits from the good work of excellent musicians such as Andreas Prittwitz, Ton Risco, Oscar Camacho, Manuel Martínez and Miguel Altable, musicians with whom we have enjoyed and learned during a very intense weekend.
Chacona is an ambitious project that saw the light thanks to the generous collaboration of the Deputation Pontevedra, the Concello of Pontevedra, the Pazo da Cultura of Pontevedra, the CONSMUPA, the Radio Galega and Musical Pontevedra. The careful recording and video and audio editing of this concert was done by Pablo Barreiro, Pablo Costas and Diego Dojer, magnificent professionals to whom we are deeply grateful.
Thanks to all who have made Chacona possible ...

En Chacona, Keep in Touch Tuba Project aborda un repertorio mágico, haciendo una lectura personal y diferente de obras escritas por genios de otro tiempo, pequeñas maravillas que nos sirven de excusa para elaborar un concierto en el que la improvisación se adueña del escenario.
Chacona se beneficia del buen hacer de excelentes músicos como Andreas Prittwitz, Ton Risco, Oscar Camacho, Manuel Martínez y Miguel Altable, musicos con los que hemos disfrutado y aprendido durante un fin de semana ciertamente intenso.
Chacona es un proyecto ambicioso que vio la luz gracias a la generosa colaboración de la Deputación Pontevedra, el Concello de Pontevedra, el Pazo da Cultura de Pontevedra, el CONSMUPA, la Radio Galega y Musical Pontevedra.
La cuidada grabación y edición en vídeo y audio de este concierto estuvo a cargo de Pablo Barreiro, Pablo Costas y Diego Dojer, magnificos profesionales a quienes estamos profundamente agradecidos.

Great masterclass with Gabriel Capet at the CONSMUPA!!

As expected, Gabriel Capet's visit to the CONSMUPA has been fantastic. Throughout the week we have had the opportunity to learn about the method of work of an excellent teacher with extensive pedagogical and interpretive experience and to share experiences in the long and nice conversations.
We also received the visit of Antonio, from Aitana Música, who brought us several tubas to try.

Como era de esperar, la visita de Gabriel Capet al CONSMUPA ha sido fantástica, a lo largo de la semana hemos tenido la oportunidad de conocer el método de trabajo de un excelente profesor con amplia experiencia pedagógica e interpretativa y de compartir experiencias en las largas y amenas conversaciones de sobremesa.

La vida es tan minúscula...

La vida es tan minúscula… es una obra para tuba, contrabajo eléctrico y banda magnética compuesta en colaboración con Miguel Ángel Fernández partiendo de un soberbio poema de Emilio Amor. El material electroacústico surge de la fantástica grabación del poema realizada por el autor cuya voz, profunda y sugerente, realza un texto que invita a reflexionar...
Solo queda agradecer a Emilio Amor que nos haya permitido inspirarnos en La vida es tan minúscula... y a los responsables del Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto de Gijón que nos hayan invitado a participar en el VII EME.

Obra estrenada el viernes 17 de marzo de 2017 en el concierto "De la voz al arpa láser", que tuvo lugar en el marco de la séptima edición de los Encuentros de Música Electroacústica organizado por el área de Cultura y Educación del Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto de Gijón (Asturias) con la participación del Ensemble Eme.

The tuba in Salerno... Thanks Alex!!

Simply great ..., being a few days in Salerno, sharing experiences and knowledge with the students of Alexandre Cerdá has been a gift for me. It is a class with great desire to improve and learn and with a lot of talent, a class in which we begin to appreciate the fruits of the work done by Alexandre, excellent teacher and friend who has been kind enough to invite me, through the European project Erasmus +, to show his students how I understand the teaching of the tuba. A visit in which I have enjoyed the hospitality and affection of both the tuba class and those in charge of the Conservatoire di Musica Giuseppe Martucci in Salerno.

Sencillamente estupendo..., estar unos días en Salerno, compartiendo experiencias y conocimientos con los alumnos de Alexandre Cerdá ha sido un regalo. Es una clase con muchas ganas por mejorar y aprender y con mucho talento, una clase en la que se empiezan a apreciar los frutos del trabajo realizado por Alexandre, excelente profesor y amigo que ha tenido la amabilidad de invitarme, a través del proyecto europeo Erasmus+, para mostrarle a sus alumnos cómo entiendo yo la enseñanza de la tuba. Una visita en la que he disfrutado de la hospitalidad y el cariño tanto de la clase de tuba como de los responsables del Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Martucci de Salerno.

Michel Godard..., the serpents charmer

Michel Godard is a sensational musician, with an infinite capacity for phrasing and an exceptional ability to transmit emotions through an abstract and universal language such as music. We have enjoyed his advices and his energy throughout the four days he has taught an unforgettable Masterclass in the CONSMUPA.
The course, as usual, has been organized by YoTuba, an organization in which we count with the talent and effort of excellent musicians and friends, an organization in which we dream of projects that help us to become better.
For Michel's Masterclass we have also counted on the valuable collaboration of the CONSMUPA and with the decisive support of Opera Prima ...

Making of… Cuevona Ardines, Andreas Prittwiz & Keep in Touch Tuba Project.

It is not just the recording itself, the projects we do from YoTuba are much more. To find the implication and the complicity necessary to complete in a day the assembly of the stage, preparation of cameras and microphones, to test the complete repertoire to know the acoustics and to give the finishing touches to the ensemble so that everything works correctly, is, without doubt, an arduous task which requires, not only the efforts of each and every one of those involved, but also of great doses of generosity. Otherwise, how could we manage to climb a harpsichord along about 300 steps to place it in the center of the cave?
Directed by Olga Fernández Suárez, Making of ... Cuevona Ardines, Andreas Prittwiz & Keep in Touch Tuba Project, undresses the modus operandi of the group. Miguel and René attentive to the technical aspects so they can work correctly, organizing the tangle of endless wiring, ordering the chaos so that micros and cameras can record the magic of Andreas and Keep in Touch Tuba Project. Throughout the morning, chairs —lended in situ by the Ribadesella City Hall—, music stands and the conducter's platform were placed, and most of the recording material was uploaded into the cave, a display of microphones and cameras, lights, cabling, flowers, computers , tubas, bombardinos, etc ... that contrasts with the solitary spotlight and the camera with which we made the first recording; Enfrentados, a project in which with the help of Pablo and Miguel, groping and unknowingly, we established in 2012 the bases for the series of recordings that since then Keep in Touch Tuba Project has been performing.
As the images recorded by Olga reflect, the day was intense, dominated by an organized chaos in which, however, there was time for a glass of wine and some pie.

No se trata solo de la grabación en sí, los proyectos que realizamos desde YoTuba suponen mucho más. Encontrar la implicación y la complicidad necesaria para realizar en un día el montaje del escenario, preparación de cámaras y micros, ensayar el repertorio completo para conocer la acústica y dar los últimos retoques al ensemble para que todo funcione correctamente, es sin duda una ardua tarea que precisa, no solo del esfuerzo de todos y cada uno de los implicados, sino también de grandes dosis de generosidad. De otro modo, ¿Cómo se consigue subir un clavecín a lo largo de cerca de 300 escalones hasta colocarlo en el centro de la cueva?
Realizado por Olga Fernández Suárez, Making of… Cuevona Ardines, Andreas Prittwiz & Keep in Touch Tuba Project, desnuda el modus operandidel grupo, Miguel y René atentos a que los aspectos técnicos funcionen correctamente, organizando la maraña del interminable cableado, ordenando el caos para que micros y cámaras puedan recoger la magia de Andreas y Keep in Touch Tuba Project. A lo largo de la mañana se colocaron sillas —cedidas in situ por el Ayuntamiento de Ribadesella—, atriles, tarima, se subió la mayor parte del material de grabación, un despliegue de pies de micro y cámaras, luces, cableado, flores, ordenadores, tubas, bombardinos, etc… que contrasta con el solitario foco y la cámara con los que realizamos la primera grabación; Enfrentados,proyecto en el que con la ayuda de Pablo y de Miguel, a tientas y sin saberlo, establecimos en 2012 las bases para la serie de grabaciones que desde entonces Keep in Touch Tuba Project ha venido realizando.
Tal y como reflejan las imágenes grabadas por Olga, el día fue intenso, dominado por un caos organizado en el que, sin embargo hubo tiempo para una copa de vino y algo de empanada.

Tuba master class with Perry Hoogendijk at the CONSMUPA.

Perry Hoogendijk, member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Professor of tuba at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and, without any doubt, one of the main world references in our instrument, will visit again Asturias to teach a tuba master class at the CONSMUPA. The master class is organized by YoTuba and has the generous collaboration of the Conservatory of Music of Asturias (CONSMUPA) and Ópera Prima.
Lessons will be taught from 10 to 13 November 2017 according to the following schedule:
Friday 10: 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday 11 and Sunday 12: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. / 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Monday 13: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m./14:00 p.m.
Throughout the course you can participate in the group sessions and, in the case of the active students, receive individual lessons.
The prices are:
Active student: 130 euros
Student listener: 50 euros

Perry Hoogendijk... the teachings of a Master!!

Magnificent musician, excellent pedagogue, great connoisseur of the orchestra and tireless worker, Perry Hoogendijk is much more than that. Capable Able to transmit all his knowledge in his classes with rigor and precision, without falling into the easy flattery, Perry, at the same time demanding and patient, endows his classes with great dynamism and energy, infecting the students with his enthusiasm.
Organized by YoTuba, with the valuable collaboration of the CONSMUPA and Opera Prima, the Master class, taught from November 10 to 13, 2017, gave us an opportunity to learn, to share table and experiences with one of the current references in our instrument.
From here, I would like to thank the CONSMUPA, Opera Prima and YoTuba for the magnificent opportunity they have given us to enjoy the teachings of a Master.

And of course…. Thanks Perry ... Let's Keep in Touch!!








 Magnífico músico, excelente pedagogo, gran conocedor de la orquesta y trabajador incansable, Perry Hoogendijk es mucho más que eso. Capaz de transmitir en sus clases todo su saber con rigor y precisión, sin caer en el halago fácil, Perry, a un tiempo exigente y paciente, dota a sus clases de gran dinamismo y energía, consiguiendo que los alumnos se contagien de su entusiasmo.

Learning from Sergio Finca at the CONSMUPA. Thanks Sergio!!

On December 21, 2018, the tuba students of the CONSMUPA had the opportunity to receive advice from Sergio Finca Quirós, currently member of the magnificent brass quintet Spanish Brass. Versatile interpreter, endowed with a devilish technique, deep and mature musician, Sergio is, from my point of view, one of the most interesting tubists on the music scene.
In his classes Sergio transmits with ardor and exigency his passion for music, his respect for the score and his extraordinary capacity for the musical expression. It was a pleasure and an honor to enjoy for a day the company and "savoir faire" of a true master.

El pasado 21 de diciembre de 2018, los alumnos de tuba del CONSMUPA tuvieron la oportunidad de recibir los consejos de Sergio Finca Quirós, miembro en la actualidad del magníficoquinteto de metales Spanish Brass. Intérprete versátil, dotado de una técnica endiablada, músico profundo y maduro, Sergio es, desde mi punto de vista, uno de los tubistas más interesantes del panorama musical.
En sus clases Sergio transmite con ardor y exigencia su pasión por la música, su respeto por la partitura y su extraordinaria capacidad para la expresión musical. Fue un placer y un honor disfrutar por un día de la compañía y saber hacer de un verdadero maestro.

Excellent professional, appreciated and respected by all who worked with him, magnificent musician endowed with an exquisite ear, René was above all a sincere and generous friend, always willing to participate in any project that was proposed, however farfetched it was.
La Notte was our last collaboration, an intense and magical day, shared with Miguel, Andreas, Samuel and all those who participated in the recording, will remain in our memory. We will also keep the memories of the preparations for the recording, and the 300 steps that gave access to an overwhelming natural scenery, endowed with excellent acoustics.
Exhausted by the effort made throughout a very intense day, the farewell was brief ... a hug and as usual he said goodbye friend.

Excelente profesional, apreciado
y respetado por todos cuantos trabajaron a su lado, magnifico músico dotado con
un oído exquisito, René era ante todo un amigo sincero y generoso, siempre
dispuesto a participar en cualquier proyecto que se le propusiera, por
descabellado que fuera.
La Notte fue nuestra última
colaboración, queda en el recuerdo un día intenso, mágico, compartido con
Miguel, Andreas, Samuel y todos los que participaron en la grabación, quedan en
el recuerdo los preparativos de la grabación, y quedan en el recuerdo los 300
escalones que daban acceso a un escenario natural sobrecogedor, dotado de una
acústica excelente.
Agotados por el esfuerzo
realizado a lo largo de un día muy intenso, la despedida fue escueta… un abrazo
y el consabido hasta siempre amigo.
